It will live, yes. Full-grain leather takes on a patina over time, retracing your adventures; light scratches come off by rubbing them gently with a cloth and a little vegetable oil. The shade can vary slightly from batch to batch, and deepens as the bag ages: that is the point of tan.

The material is water-resistant, not waterproof. It can withstand light rain and splashes, but avoid heavy or prolonged rain and immersion. Protect electronics separately, wipe off moisture and let the bag dry naturally away from direct heat.
