How to pack a weekend bag for two nights away
A useful two-night packing list, a simple packing order and the checks to make before choosing your bag.

Start with the activities, weather and laundry options for your trip. A city weekend with dinner plans needs a different load from two nights of walking in wet weather. Choose the contents first; then choose a bag that carries them comfortably.
A starting checklist for two nights

This is a starting point, not a fixed rule. Adjust quantities for personal needs, sport, formal plans and whether you can wash clothes.
Pack by access and weight
Put shoes in a separate bag so their soles do not touch clean clothes. Place dense items low and near the centre, then use folded or rolled clothing to fill gaps. Keep toiletries upright where possible and away from books and electronics.
Put tickets, keys and charging cables in a pocket you can reach without unpacking. Leave a little spare room so the zip closes freely. Forcing an overfilled bag shut makes access awkward and puts unnecessary strain on the closure.
Use capacity as a comparison, not a promise
Radisson is a canvas and leather travel bag with a listed 36.5 L capacity, external dimensions of 30 × 53 × 23 cm and an approximate empty weight of 1.5 kg. Its main compartment, internal pockets and removable shoulder strap make it a useful model to examine when comparing weekend layouts.
Those specifications do not guarantee that every version of this checklist fits. Shoes, winter layers and packing cubes can change the space needed considerably. Check the interior photographs on the product page and compare the measurements with a bag you already use.
Backpack or weekend bag?
A backpack keeps both hands free for longer walks. A weekend bag offers a different opening and can be convenient for clothing-focused packing, but carrying a heavy load on one shoulder may not suit a long transfer. Consider the route between home, station and accommodation, not just the journey itself.

Before you leave
- Close the packed bag and check that you can carry it comfortably.
- Keep liquids separate and make sure their lids are secure.
- Check documents, weather and transport requirements.
- For a flight, check the current allowance for your airline and fare, then measure the filled bag including handles and protruding pockets.

Can a weekend bag go under an airline seat?
That depends on the packed dimensions and the airline and fare’s current personal-item allowance. Do not decide from litres or the term “weekend bag” alone.
Should I use packing cubes?
They can separate outfits and make unpacking easier, but they also take up some space. Compare their filled dimensions with the bag opening and avoid packing them so tightly that the bag is hard to close.
