  • Full-grain leather is a natural material. Small marks, grain variation and slight colour differences can occur, including between batches. Test suitable leather-care products on an inconspicuous area first.
  • Oil immersed leather can transfer colour onto light fabrics. Let the bag dry if it gets wet, keep it away from pale clothing while it is damp, and any mark it leaves will come out in the wash.

How much fits in the Kalinka?

19 L behind the drawstring opening, across 40 × 30 × 16 cm: one main space kept in order by slit and zip pockets, plus a dedicated smartphone pocket. It takes bulky shapes better than a zipped pack of the same volume. If your days regularly ask for more room, the WATERLOO leather travel backpack is the roomier cut of the same trapper spirit.

How does the Kalinka close?

With a drawstring, then a flap held by two leather straps and antiqued brass roller buckles. There is no zip on the front of this bag. The large front pocket closes the same way, under its own flap with two more straps and buckles. It is slower than a zip and it is meant to be: the cord lets you close over a load that would never sit flat.

Is the Kalinka for men or women?

Both. The KALINKA is a unisex leather knapsack : the same cut suits men and women, teenagers and adults. The shoulder straps are padded, run wide and adjust at the base, so the bag rides high or low depending on where you buckle them.

Does the Kalinka hold up in the rain?

The material is water-resistant, not waterproof. It can withstand light rain and splashes, but avoid heavy or prolonged rain and immersion. Protect electronics separately, wipe off moisture and let the bag dry naturally away from direct heat.

How does the leather age?

It gets better. The full grain develops a patina where your hands and shoulders work it: the grain softens, the colour deepens, and the fold of the flap sets. After a few years no two Kalinkas look alike.

What can I carry for work in it?

The KALINKA gives you one 19 L compartment measuring 40 × 30 × 16 cm, with slip pockets, a zip pocket and a smartphone pocket for the small things. Notebooks, files, a lunch and a jumper travel well in it. If you carry a computer every day, write to us with the model before you order and we will measure it against the bag.

Who is the Kalinka not for?

Anyone who needs a trail harness. The shoulder straps are padded, but the back panel is a solid sheet of leather with no ventilation behind it, and the bag is 1.7 kg empty, so a long climb under load is better served by a pack such as the Topo Designs Rover Pack Classic. The KALINKA is made to carry your daily life in full-grain leather and to age with it.
